Welcome to the Bioinformatics Graduate Student Association (BGSA) Board for the Academic Year 2024-2025

Our elected board members serve as the bridge between bioinformatics graduate students and the broader campus-wide Graduate Student Association (GSA). Below are the distinguished leaders of the BGSA and their specific roles and responsibilities.

Board Members

President: Nicole Adams

  • Presides over all organizational meetings.
  • Organizes and promotes BGSA social events.
  • Collaborates with the Faculty Social/Graduate Committee to welcome prospective students.
  • Serves as the primary contact for interactions with prospective students and guest lecturers.
  • Encourages attendance at seminars, workshops, and outreach programs.

Vice President: Amelia Loeb

  • Alternates with the Speaker to represent BGSA at monthly university-wide GSA meetings.
  • Assists in creating a supportive social environment through active engagement with students and event planning.

Speaker: Kim McKeever

  • Shares responsibility with the Vice President for attending university-wide GSA meetings.
  • Attends all relevant GSA subcommittee meetings.
  • Supports the Vice President in organizing social events for the BGSA.

Treasurer: Maddy Bursell

  • Manages all financial accounts and records for the BGSA.
  • Handles reimbursements and oversees fundraising activities.
  • Prepares budgets for annual BGSA events.

Secretary: Umang Joshi

  • Sends advance notifications for all BGSA meetings.
  • Records minutes and handles the logistics of meeting preparations, including refreshments.
  • Coordinates with the Bioinformatics program to promote BGSA events in various communications.
